We to things differently at HMYF! Choral day is a chance for choirs to have an invaluable opportunity to perfrom in front of a 'Biff' adjudicator, without having the pressure of 'winning'... everyone is a winner at HMYF!

Meet our adjudicator
Angela Rowley
Choral singing is a so special. You get to share your voice and your commitment with others who feel the same, and the outcome, after what is usually a deal of hard work, can be magical, not only bringing the singers a huge sense of achievement and satisfaction but firing the audience’s imagination and stirring emotions. Nothing feels better than being moved by your own choir’s performance.
I’m really looking forward to hearing choirs who understand about a joint endeavour, individuals balancing their voices and listening to each other rather than seeking to be heard. I want to sense the choirs singing the words of a piece, not just the notes. I need to hear the words clearly- not so easy in a choir - but I also want to hear the emotion of the piece expressed in the shaping of phrases, dynamics, and word-painting. Most of all I hope to sense enjoyment in the very act of singing together. This is all possible for even the youngest of choirs and I look forward to hearing you all.
